Holiday Activity and Food ProgrammE

After initial 2021 success, working in partnership with Active Futures and Wallsend Action For Youth, targeting over 200 young people within Primary Schools. In 2022 with support from North Tyneside Council, we set out on the challenge of attracting those considered more difficult to engage, the older teenagers. our Power Through Sport ‘Park Nights’ began as a way to engage older teenagers—often the hardest to reach—through safe, fun, and inclusive holiday sessions. Delivered across two locations, the programme quickly gained momentum and strong community support.

Each evening featured:

  • Live DJ Skate Park Jams with free prize giveaways

  • Supervised sports and creative activities

  • Guest-led sessions with Pop More Skate School and BigFoot Arts

  • A hot, nutritious meal for every participant—ranging from woodfired pizza to Greek wraps

In 2023 and 2024, we delivered 12 sessions each year as part of North Tyneside Council’s Get Into Participation Programme, keeping the same popular format while continuing our HAF delivery.

Now in 2025, with support from The National Lottery, Park Nights has expanded significantly. We are now delivering 96 sessions across 4 locations, making the programme more accessible than ever. Of these, 18 sessions across 3 locations are funded specifically through the Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme.

Park Nights are now open to all young people, creating welcoming spaces that foster friendships, connection, and positive activity in the heart of local communities.

While the scale has grown, HAF remains a core part of what we do—ensuring that eligible young people continue to access free, enriching holiday experiences and healthy meals at a time when they need them most.
